عيد ميلاد مجيد
مرحبا
Do you want to come join me? I'm visiting my friends and family and giving them some Kaik bread. While your with me I can tell you our traditional Christmas.
Lots of Egyptians celebrate Christmas, yet only few of them are Christians.
Forty days before Christmas we do what is called The holy Nativity Fast, which is when we don't eat any meat except fish. Those forty days are called Kiahk. We celebrate Christmas not December 25th, but January 7th, and Christmas Eve January 6th.
Markets are selling Christmas trees, food, and decorations. Community lots decorate with lights and Christmas trees. Americans get gifts from Santa, while we get gifts from Baba Noël. On Christmas Eve we go to church wearing new clothes. Then at midnight church bells ring and everyone goes home. When we're
home we eat a special dinner, containing garlic bread, rice, and boiled meats. The next morning (Christmas morning) we visit friends and family giving them Kaik, a type of bread.
