メリークリスマス
(Merry Christmas)
こんにちは! That is how we say say hello in Japan. You are probably here to see our Christmas traditions.
Sadly only few people in Japan believe in Christ, yet most Japanese dress up their homes and shops for Christmas. I know, strange. We celebrate by giving gifts. We even have two Santas, Santa and Hotei-osho. Hotei-osho gives gifts to the young ones. Children believe that he has eyes on the back of his head so kids don't peek and watch for him. If kids don't like or believe in Hotei-osho they use Santa instead! Christian Japanese don't celebrate this wonderful holiday with family or food, they give gifts to people that are sick or in the hospital. For kids in Sunday school, Christmas is the best day ever, they put on a play and sing and preform the day Jesus was born.
Thanks for visiting us!
