Hyvää Joulua
Hei! Welcome to Finland. How has your trip been so far? Well it's about to get better when I tell you about our traditional Christmas! Come join us for dinner and I'll explain our Christmas.
Our Christmas tree is actually tied to a sled to be taken home and decorated. Some of the Finnish tie a bundle of wheat to a pole outside and don't eat until the birds have eaten this bundle, while most people begin eating when the first star twinkles in the night sky. Our dinner has Codfish that are fluffy, potatoes, and a delicious creamy sauce.
Children don't hang up stockings here, instead, Saint Nick comes to their house with his little elves and gives gifts. The kids go to bed early while the adults stay up late talking with visitors until midnight.
